Connor O'Neil (Keanu Reeves), constantly avoiding taking responsibility in his life and spending his time betting on sports matches. When he asks for help from his close friend, who is a banker, to pay off his debts, his friend tells him that he can no longer give him money for nothing. He advises him to work and earn money, and asks him to take on the coaching position of the baseball little league team, which is sponsored by his company. Conor, who has never taken anyone else's responsibility in his life, reluctantly accepts the task. He takes on the coaching of the little black children studying at a school in Chicago's toughest neighborhood. As time goes by, Conor is surprised by how attached he becomes to the children. These children under the age of 10 give him life lessons. When the young teacher Elizabeth Wilkes (Diane Lane) enters the picture, things become even more interesting for Conor. In the end, Conor begins to learn that enlightenment and finding oneself can manifest in different ways.
